The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹1,686.39 crore for settlement of long-pending property tax arrears on government properties falling under the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) through a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme.
The sanction was issued by the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department on Wednesday. The order follows an earlier government decision approving the implementation of the OTS scheme for the 2026–27 financial year, offering a 100% waiver on accumulated interest and penalties on outstanding property tax dues relating to government properties.
Under the scheme, the government will clear the arrears through appropriate instalments within one year to the municipal corporations concerned. The Finance Department had already issued budget release orders for the amount on May 26 in relaxation of treasury control and quarterly regulation orders.
Of the total sanctioned amount, ₹1,585.41 crore has been allocated to GHMC, ₹24.87 crore to CMC and ₹76.11 crore to MMC towards settlement of property tax arrears.
