A fact-finding committee headed by a retired judge will probe into what is said erratic evaluation and tampering with of marks in the evaluation of answer sheets of second and fourth semester of B.Ed examination in the Gulbarga University in December 2024.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, who is the Chancellor of Universities, has set up the one-man fact-finding committee and appointed retired judge Ramachandra D. Huddar to inquire into the allegations/complaints of irregularities in the II and IV semester examinations of B.Ed course for academic year 2023-24 conducted by the university from December 2 to December 9 last year and also to inquire into the findings of the internal sub-committee report submitted by the university in May 2025.
He has directed the fact-finding committee to submit a report along with its recommendations within a month.
As many as 6,566 B.Ed students, including 2,427 in second semester and 4,139 candidates in fourth semester, wrote the B.Ed examination in December 2024.
The university authorities noticed that some of the students scored identical marks in multiple subjects and also found tampering with of marks.
The marks of many students increased significantly after re-evaluation and this led to doubts about the evaluation process.
