More than three lakh passengers have applied for the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program in the last one year, officials privy to the initiative told CNN-News18.

Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP) is an initiative designed to expedite immigration clearance for eligible travellers. It runs on e-gates or automated border gates to minimise human intervention in the immigration clearance process.

Currently available for Indian nationals and OCI cardholders, the cost-free programme ensures a faster, smoother, and more secure travel experience for pre-verified passengers.

On June 22, 2024, the programme was launched at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi where eight e-gates were installed: four for arrivals and four for departures.

Apart from Delhi, the initiative, in its first phase, was also introduced at seven other international airports—Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad—by January this year. Gradually, the facility is slated to cover a total of 21 airports in the country.

How TTP Makes Travel Easy

Once a passenger has registered on TTP, their travel time through immigration is significantly reduced. When a registered passenger proceeds to the dedicated TTP e-gates installed at the immigration area of an airport, they will have to scan their passport and boarding pass at the first e-gate.

Once the first e-gate verifies the passport and boarding pass details, the passenger will be allowed to pass through to the next e-gate.

At the next e-gate, a scanner will scan your face and when the facial details are verified, the passenger’s immigration process is complete and they are allowed to proceed to the boarding area.

How to Register?

To be eligible for TTP, applicants must ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months when applying. The registration remains valid for up to five years or until the passport’s expiration, whichever occurs first.

Detailing the process, the official said an applicant can apply through the government website www.ftittp.mha.gov and fill in the required details. After verification by the Bureau of Immigration, the approved passenger will receive an email or SMS to proceed.

Receiving this intimation, the applicant may proceed for the biometric enrolment at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a dedicated counter at Delhi Airport. Once the biometric details are submitted, the registration process is complete.
