Operations at the new terminal of Guwahati International Airport are set to commence from February 22, with the first flight scheduled to operate from the facility on the same day.
The facility is equipped with several modern amenities, including full-body scanners for faster security checks, an Automated Baggage Handling System, an Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS), and Fast Track Immigration (FTI-TTP) for quicker clearance procedures.

In December, PM Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati, describing the occasion as a “festival of development" for Assam and the Northeast and asserting that the region is emerging as the new gateway to India’s future growth.
Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, the Prime Minister said that modern airports and enhanced connectivity infrastructure act as gateways to new opportunities for any state, boosting public confidence and unlocking fresh economic avenues.
He added that Assam and the entire Northeast are now well-positioned to play a leading role in India’s future growth story.
He also underscored that his personal attachment to Assam and the affection of its people continue to inspire him and reinforce the government’s resolve to accelerate development in the region.
Quoting lines by Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, he said the pledge to illuminate the banks of the Brahmaputra and break all walls of darkness was being fulfilled through sustained development efforts.
The Prime Minister had described the inauguration of the new terminal as a significant milestone in Assam’s development journey, underscoring the steady pace of progress under the present governments at both the Centre and the state.
He extended his congratulations to the people of Assam and the country on the completion of the new terminal building.
