Heatwave alert sounded in Srikakulam as temperatures cross 42°C

Srikakulam in-charge Collector Farman Ahmad Khan on Thursday asked people to protect themselves for the coming one week as summer heat is said to peak as per the projection of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

He said that the temperatures would higher in several mandals such as Hiramandalam, L.N. Peta, Saravakota, Patapatnam and Burja which are already witnessing high temperatures.

Mr. Ahmad Khan also directed the labour department officials to give clear instructions to companies not to allow the staff to work in open places between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to the high temperatures.

As per the data of IMD, the day temperatures are crossing 42° Celsius in several places of Srikaulam district. In this backdrop, Mr. Khan has asked officials to arrange water kiosks in the respective areas.

Srikakulam Municipal Commissioner Hanumanthu Kurmarao formally launched a water kiosk. A few charitable organisations have organised the supply of buttermilk.
