The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for 15 Telangana districts for Thursday (May 21, 2026). There will be a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 1℃ to 2℃ during the next two days, the IMD said on Wednesday (May 20, 2026).
15 Telangana districts forecast to experience heatwave conditions
According to IMDs latest bulletin, heatwave conditions are very likely to occur at isolated places in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanunakonda, Jangaon and Yadadri Bhuvangiri districts.
Additionally, thunderstorm forecast was issued for Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulaba Gadwal districts.
Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a partly cloudy sky. “The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 41℃ and 29℃ respectively,” the bulletin said.
