Kushare registered a jump of 2.25m to move into the final of the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Japan as one of the thirteen finalists who will compete for the medals.

Indian high jump athlete Sarvesh Kushare became the first person from the nation to qualify for the final of the men’s high jump at the 2025 Athletics World Championships in Tokyo.
Kushare registered a jump of 2.25m to move into the final of the event as one of the thirteen finalists who will compete for the medals.
Indian race walkers Sandeep Kumar and Priyanka Goswami finished 23rd and 24th in the men’s and women’s 35km events, respectively, on the opening day of the nine-day event on Saturday.
The Indian contingent will look to give a good account of itself at the upcoming edition of the World Athletics Championships in the Japanese Capital City as 19 athletes represent the tricolour.
Javelin throw ace Neeraj Chopra, who clinched the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, will headline the Indian unit at the Worlds’ as the javelin throw event boasts a five-member cohort, with four men and a solitary woman athlete set to vie for the title.
India, who have medalled at the event thrice, through legendary long jump athlete Anju Bobby George in 2003 and Chopra in 2022 and 2023, will look to add to their historic tally at the event.
Neeraj will be joined by fellow javelin throw athletes Sachin Yadav, Yashvir Singh, Rohit Yadav in the men’s section, while Annu Rani spearheads the women’s contingent.
Runners Gulveer Singh and Pooja will compete in two events each, while national record-setting sprinter Animesh Kujur and Tejas Shirse will be seen in 200m and 110m hurdles action respectively.
