Hitchhiker held on charge of theft

A 28-year-old youth was arrested by the Thoppumpady police for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a man after hitch-hiking on his motorbike.

The arrested is Munzil T.S. of Kochangady, Mattanchery. The alleged incident happened on February 2, 2026. According to the police, the accused got a lift from the complainant from near Karuvelippady bus stop. He got down near a bar at Thoppumpady and as the complainant attended a phone call, he snatched the phone and ran away, they said.
