Three persons/entities who took possession of government assigned-land reportedly through illegal transactions, were evicted from the property by the intervention of the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) at Khanamet village of Serilingampally mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday.

The claimants/occupants of the land included two major realtors, Vasavi and Meenakshi groups, a statement from HYDRAA informed.

HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath informed that the 8.2 acres in Survey Number 55 had been assigned to the landless poor by the government for cultivation. Eventually, it was transferred against the rules, in the name of the two realtors, and another private individual identified as Kolanu Sabitha Reddy, Mr. Ranganath said, adding that the modus operandi in such cases is to create fake numbers and apply for building permission.

The survey number had already been placed in the list of lands on which transactions are prohibited by the Collector of the Ranga Reddy district.

While an RCC plant on the land had already been removed by the builder, Vasavi Group, temporary structures created for housing workers were pulled down by HYDRAA, the statement said. It added that Kolanu Sabitha Reddy engaged bouncers to guard the land which was in her possession.

After field inspection, HYDRAA confirmed that it was government land, and pulled down the structures, apart from laying a fence around the land.
