A 20-year-old engineering student at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad was found dead on the campus on Saturday (July 4, 2026).
The deceased was identified as Abhiroop Pullepu, a second-year CGD student. Preliminary probe revealed that he ended his life by jumping from a campus building. He is suspected to have taken the extreme step due to personal reasons.
Upon receiving the information, the Gachibowli police reached the spot and shifted the body for postmortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
Meanwhile, IIIT Hyderabad issued a statement confirming the death of the student. “Abhiroop sustained critical injuries following a fall and was immediately provided emergency assistance before being shifted to Care Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries. The cause of death has been reported as injuries sustained due to the fall. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the institute said.
“The institute administration is in touch with the family and is extending all possible support. We are also making counselling and support services available to students, faculty, and staff members who may be affected by this loss,” it added.
