India vs South Africa 2nd T20 Match Playing 11, Full Squad: Riding high on confidence after thrashing South Africa by 101 runs in the first T20I in Cuttack on Tuesday, Suryakumar Yadav’s India will take on Aiden Markram’s deflated side for the second T20I match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur in New Chandigarh on Thursday.
Invited to bat first by South Africa, India put on what appeared to be a fighting total of 175 thanks to Hardik Pandya’s blazing knock of 28-ball 59. The Proteas never looked in control while chasing as they lost wickets at regular intervals. After being reduced to 68 for five, the Indian bowlers ran through the South African lower order, bundling them out for just 74 to register a thumping win to start the T20I series in style.
IND vs SA 2nd T20I Predicted XIs:
India: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill (vc), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy.
South Africa: Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Donovan Ferreira, Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Keshav Maharaj, Lutho Sipamla.
Player to watch out for India: Arshdeep Singh
Left-arm pacers are special for a reason. They tend to be difficult to face, and there is additional pressure when it comes to facing a quality left-armer. Arshdeep Singh is one such quality left-arm pacer who has been the kingpin for India in the shortest format. He became the first (and only, before Jasprit Bumrah joined him during the first IND vs SA T20I in Cuttack) Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20 Internationals. Arshdeep is a key figure for India with the new ball, having dismissed Quinton de Kock in the first over and then Tristan Stubbs a few overs later, pushing South Africa completely against the wall. His place in the recent games was in question, as Harshit Rana was given precedence due to his comparatively better slog-hitting skills, but time and again, Arshdeep has proved he should be a fixed starter for India in this format.
Player to watch out for South Africa: Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock holds a tremendous record against India. He loves playing and piling on runs against this team. Having been dismissed for two ducks — one in the ODIs and one on Tuesday during the first T20I — de Kock will be aiming to reply with the kind of counter-attacking century he struck in Ranchi. If the stylish left-hander sees off the initial burst from Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball, he has all the shots in his arsenal to make India pay big time.
IND vs SA T20I Squads:
India: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sanju Samson (WK), Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar.
