India Women Exit Badminton Asia Team Championships After 0-3 Loss to China

India's women's team lost 0-3 to China in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Team Championships on Friday. India had won the gold medal in the previous edition in 2024, but PV Sindhu did not play due to a minor injury, making it harder to defend the title.

World No. 42 Tanvi, after winning her first two singles matches in the tournament, was defeated 9-21, 9-21 by World No. 10 Gao Fang Jie in the opening match. The doubles team of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly put up a close fight but lost 22-24, 18-21 to the world No. 4 pair of Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian, giving China a 2-0 lead in the tie.In the second singles match, Rakshitha Ramraj fought hard but lost 14-21, 21-15, 17-21 to Xu Wen Jing in a match that lasted 69 minutes.India started the tournament with a 5-0 win over Myanmar but lost 2-3 to Thailand in their final group match. The defeat against China ended India’s title defense, as they had won the gold medal in the previous edition in 2024.The Indian men's team is scheduled to play South Korea in the quarterfinals later on Friday.
