US President Donald Trump hailed the newly signed peace agreement with Iran as a historic diplomatic breakthrough, declaring that Tehran will “never have a nuclear weapon" under the framework of the deal.

Trump said the agreement aims to end the prolonged conflict between the United States and Iran, ensure the full reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, and establish what he described as unprecedented safeguards against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Last week, we signed a historic agreement to end the conflict with Iran, fully open the Strait of Hormuz, and accomplish what no President has ever been able to accomplish before — Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon!" Trump said.

Trump gave the statement at the kickoff event for the Great American State Fair.
