Stating that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has shown a “big heart” by extending an invitation to the IUML to join the State Cabinet, the party’s national president, K.M. Kader Mohideen, on Wednesday announced that its Political Advisory Committee had given the State unit the go-ahead to join the Cabinet.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Mohideen said that the final decision would be announced on Thursday (May 21) after meeting of the party’s high-level committee. Asked if the party would be fine with the TVK inducting a faction of rebel AIADMK MLAs into the Cabinet, he said, “We have extended unconditional support for the formation of the State government. We have no issues with the AIADMK rebel faction unlike the Communist parties. We will withdraw support if BJP is included in the Cabinet,” he noted.

He further said that the party leadership had received non-stop calls from various sections of the Muslim community to support the TVK government.
