Trichy: Congress MP Jothimani on Saturday urged the Tamil Nadu government to exercise greater caution in making key appointments, referring to the appointment of Jana Nayagan producer Venkat Narayana K as the state’s Special Representative in New Delhi.Speaking to reporters in Karur, she said the DMK government and chief minister M K Stalin were on the right track in ensuring a transparent and corruption-free administration, but appointments to sensitive positions required greater scrutiny.“The post involves handling important issues concerning Tamil Nadu and should ideally be held by someone with a thorough understanding of the state. It would be better if the person representing Tamil Nadu is from the state itself,” she said.Referring to the Mekedatu dispute with Karnataka, Jothimani said appointing a person from Karnataka could create an adverse perception.“I do not mean to say he would support Karnataka, but in terms of perception, it will affect Tamil Nadu. On sensitive issues like this, the Tamil Nadu government should pay more attention,” she said.
