Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Keezhathur-Kottam and Cherikkal-Kottam bridges in the Dharmadam Assembly constituency on Tuesday (February 17, 2026), bringing an end to the travel woes of people in the area.
The Keezhathur bridge, built across the Anjarakandy river at a cost of ₹12.2 crore, connects Peralassery and Vengad grama panchayts. The Cherikkal-Kottam bridge constructed in Pinarayi grama panchayat with financial assistance from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has been completed at a cost of ₹19 crore.
The new bridges are expected to considerably reduce travel distance and time for people in Peralassery, Vengad and Cherikkal, besides improving access to the Koothuparamba-Kannur road.
Museum and Archaeology Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran will preside over the function, while Public Works and Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas will be the chief guest. MPs K. Sudhakaran, V. Sivadasan and P. Sandosh Kumar will take part.
