Kerala does not approve of the National Education Policy (NEP) being implemented by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
He was addressing a public meeting on the Kozhikode beach here on Monday (June 30, 2025) that marked the culmination of the four-day national conference of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI).
Mr. Vijayan alleged that the NEP would “pose a danger to the country” by disseminating wrong information to the future generations. He claimed that the BJP was enforcing the policy “at the behest of” the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which has had no role in the freedom movement of the country.
“The BJP and the RSS will feel uncomfortable if the students are taught the country’s real history. So, attempts are being made to change it. Our freedom struggle is being presented in a different way. V.D. Savarkar, who wrote mercy petitions to the British authorities to get himself released from the Andaman jail, is being portrayed as a brave person. Mahatma Gandhi is shown in a different light and Nathuram Vinayak Godse, his assassin, is being glorified,” Mr. Vijayan said.
Attacks RSS
The Chief Minister also accused the RSS of following the organisational structure of the National Fascist Party led by Benito Mussolini in Italy and the political ideals of the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler in Germany.
“M.S. Golwalkar, the second chief of the RSS, in his book Bunch of Thoughts described the Christians, Muslims, and communists as the main internal enemies of the country. This was copied from the Nazi Party’s description of Jews and Bolsheviks as the main threat to Germany. The Jews were the minorities in Germany and the communists there were called Bolsheviks then. This clearly highlights the RSS’ approach to the minorities everywhere,” he said.
Mr. Vijayan alleged that the RSS had also “supported Hitler’s genocide of Jews” as a solution to Germany’s internal problems. The RSS had said that the German model of the Holocaust was worthy of emulation, he said.
‘RSS, Zionists are like twins’
He also claimed that the BJP government supported Israel after its attack on Gaza in Palestine because of the RSS’ liking for Zionism. “The RSS and the Zionists are like twins,” he said.
Mr. Vijayan alleged that by doing this, the BJP had followed the path shown by previous Congress governments in diluting India’s anti-imperialist foreign policy.
