Kerala HC stays trial proceedings in complaint by actress against Boby Chemmanur

The Kerala High Court has stayed the trial proceedings against businessman Boby Chemmanur initiated on a sexual harassment complaint by an actress. The court was informed on Friday that the actress was willing to settle the dispute after Mr. Chemmannur had tendered his apology via social media. 

Mr. Chemmanur had allegedly made sexually loaded remarks against the actress during an inaugural function. A year after the incident, he issued an apology through an Instagram post and requested her to withdraw the case. 

The actress had lodged a complaint in January 2025, after which a Special Investigation Team had arrested Mr. Chemmanur on charges of sexual harassment, making sexually coloured remarks, and publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form.
