Rudrapur: Congress MLA from Kichha Tilak Raj Behar on Wednesday staged a protest alleging that the local police and district administration facilitated the alleged forcible possession of a disputed land parcel, popularly known as Khan Farm, in Kichha.Addressing supporters at the site, Behar alleged that despite repeated representations, police sided with the rival claimants and allowed them to take possession of the property. He warned that if justice was not delivered and the alleged encroachment was not reversed, he would be forced to resort to self-immolation.Meanwhile, Sayra Vadra, (sister in law of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) who described herself as the legal claimant to the property, alleged that the land had been bequeathed to her by its original owner, late Kulsum Khan.
She claimed that labourers deployed by her at the site were evicted with the support of the administration, who she alleged, acted in collusion with Nasreen Khan’s family. The district administration and police were present at the site to maintain law and order during the protest. No official response to the allegations made by Behar and Sayra Vadra was immediately available. The ownership dispute and the rival claims could not be independently verified.
