As Kerala geared up for its assembly elections, celebrated Malayalam film figures such as Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Prithviraj were seen casting their votes at dawn, standing as beacons for public engagement.

Several Malayalam film stars turned up early to cast their votes as Kerala went to the polls on Thursday. Actor Mohanlal was among the first to vote at 7 am at Mudavanmugalil School in Thiruvananthapuram.As reported by On Manorama, the 'Patriot' actor stood in line at Booth 36 in the Nemom constituency and later urged people to exercise their democratic right. Mohanlal’s early vote

Mohanlal arrived at the polling station before voting began and waited patiently in line. After casting his vote, he shared a message on Instagram: "I have fulfilled my responsibility. Now, it's your turn. Keralam, go out and vote!"

Actor Renji Panicker voted at the Kadavanthara YMCA. Talking to the media, he opened up on the value of democracy and said, “Our democracy works in both good and challenging times.

When we look at other countries, we realise how lucky we are to enjoy our freedom and democracy. Comparing our situation with other countries that gained independence at the same time shows how much we should appreciate our system, " as quoted by On Manorama.

PM Modi’s appeal in Malayalam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged people of Kerala to vote in large numbers. He tweeted in Malayalam, "2026 ലെ നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ വോട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നതിൽ വൻ പങ്കാളിത്തം ഉറപ്പാക്കാൻ കേരളത്തിലെ ജനങ്ങളോട് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Suresh Gopi cast his vote at Booth 137 in the Guruvayoor Devaswom English Medium School. Prithviraj, along with his wife Supriya, voted early at Thevara Fisheries School.
