JAISALMER: In a shocking incident that has strained family ties, a man allegedly beat his younger brother to death with a cricket bat following a dispute over a financial transaction in Pushad village under the Shiv police station area of Rajasthan's Barmer district on Thursday night.The accused, identified as Jetharam, has been detained by the police. The incident occurred while the brothers' elderly father was present at the house.According to Shiv Station House Officer (SHO) Manohar Bishnoi, the deceased, Suresh (25), son of Togaram and a resident of Pushad village, had gone to his elder brother's house on Thursday night to discuss a dispute related to the exchange of money. During the conversation, an argument broke out between the two brothers.In a fit of rage, Jetharam allegedly picked up a cricket bat lying in the house and repeatedly struck Suresh on the head, killing him on the spot.After receiving information from the father, police rushed to the scene and detained the accused. The elderly father was reportedly present inside the house when the incident took place.Police inspected the crime scene, while Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Mobile Forensic (MOB) teams were called to collect evidence.
The body was shifted to the mortuary at Shiv Hospital during the night.On Friday, the victim's father, Togaram, lodged a formal complaint alleging that the murder was the result of a dispute over money. Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation.Following the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family.Suresh lived in Pushad village with his family and is survived by his wife and a young daughter. Jetharam lived separately in a farmhouse (dhani) outside the village. Both brothers were engaged in farming.
