Masked gang armed with knives attack people outside supermarket in Nottinghamshire, 2 arrested

A group of masked men armed with knives attacked several people outside a supermarket in Sutton-in-Ashfield, a town in Nottinghamshire, leaving multiple victims injured in a late-night incident.Police were called to Priestsic Road at around 11.57 pm on Friday following reports of a fight involving a group of males wearing face coverings and carrying bladed weapons.

Three people injured in the attack

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 17-year-old boy with a slash wound to his arm and a 24-year-old man who had suffered an injury to his elbow. Both were taken for treatment and their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police later confirmed that a third victim, a 23-year-old man, was also injured and had suffered a wound to his arm.

Two teenagers arrested

Nottinghamshire Police said two 16-year-old boys were arrested on Sunday morning on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Detectives said efforts are ongoing to identify and locate other people believed to have been involved in the violent clash.

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

Detective Sergeant Adam Penn said officers are treating the incident seriously and a team of detectives is working to track down everyone involved.

“We do not tolerate violence or those who think it is acceptable to carry or use weapons,” he said, adding that the investigation is ongoing following the arrests.Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.Authorities said they understand the concern within the community but currently believe the incident was isolated.
