Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra was cross-questioned by the Privileges Committee of the Maharashtra Legislature on Thursday (April 9, 2026) in a breach of privilege matter being examined against him. He was asked 24 questions during the proceedings and was told that the matter would be looked at differently if he tendered an unconditional apology. Mr. Kamra later told The Hindu that he had refused to tender an unconditional apology.
He had appeared before the committee a few times before this. The last time, the matter was postponed after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushama Andhare had sought an extension. A breach of privilege motion has been moved against both of them for their comments against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
