Brief tension prevailed in Attapur on Tuesday night after a woman was seen entering an car near Pillar No. 146, triggering initial fears of a possible abduction before police clarified that the incident appears to be linked to a family dispute.

Eyewitnesses alerted police through Dial 100 around 9.30 p.m. after the scene caused alarm among onlookers. Police teams rushed to the spot immediately.

According to Attapur ACP T. Srinivas, preliminary investigation, supported by CCTV footage, indicated that the people in the vehicle were likely the woman’s brother and other family members. “The footage shows the car arriving at the location, after which the woman herself entered the vehicle and a brief discussion took place before they left,” he said.

The matter appears to have stemmed from a dispute linked to a love affair, the official added.

The official also noted that the car was found without a number plate, which is being examined as part of the investigation.

Three police teams were formed to trace the vehicle and verify the identities of those involved. Further investigation is under way.
