The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has submitted a proposal to the Uttar Pradesh government to establish Japan City and Singapore City along the Yamuna Expressway.
According to YEIDA CEO R K Singh, the authority has already identified suitable land for both projects within its jurisdiction. The plan envisages roughly 500 acres in Sector 5A for Japan City and a similar 500 acres in Sector 7 for Singapore City. Both sectors are classified as multi-purpose industrial zones under YEIDA’s master plan, with at least 70% of land designated for industrial use. “The proposal states that these sectors can be developed as integrated industrial townships,” Singh said.He added that the authority has also drawn up a land acquisition plan for both developments. Singh explained that the request for information followed CM Yogi Adityanath's visits to Japan and Singapore, prompting YEIDA to earmark appropriate land for the proposed cities.Last month, YEIDA held a meeting with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to explore investment opportunities for the planned Japanese City.
Officials said discussions centred on attracting Japanese companies, mapping sector-wise investment potential, and charting a development roadmap for the proposed industrial and residential hub.The city is set to be developed close to the upcoming Noida International Airport. The meeting was chaired by YEIDA CEO R K Singh and Suzuki Takashi, chief director general of JETRO India, with a focus on building lasting institutional engagement with Japanese investors.YEIDA officials highlighted that the region’s multimodal connectivity, anchored by the airport and expanding road and logistics networks, would appeal to both large manufacturing firms and small and medium enterprises. The authority also showcased investment potential in other upcoming projects, including a medical devices park, film city, textile and apparel parks, and an electronics manufacturing cluster.
