Aizawl: Mizoram governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Friday flagged off a basic life support ambulance funded through the CSR initiative of NBCC (India) Ltd, aimed at improving healthcare access in remote border regions of the state.The ambulance will serve Silsury and nearby villages in the aspirational Mamit district, located along the India-Bangladesh border. Speaking at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl, the governor emphasised the importance of balanced development, noting that border areas often lag behind in infrastructure and essential services. He said residents in such regions face the greatest challenges and deserve focused attention.Established in 1960, NBCC operates under the ministry of housing and urban affairs as a public sector undertaking and plays a key role in executing major infrastructure projects across India.In Mizoram, NBCC is also actively engaged in border infrastructure development. Of the 189 km of India-Bangladesh border fencing sanctioned, 98km has already been completed, with work continuing in Lawngtlai district. Recently, the company handed over 55km of border fencing and five border outposts in the Dampa Tiger Reserve area of Mamit district, further strengthening border management and infrastructure in the region.
