Mumbai Teenager Shot Dead By Boyfriend’s Partner In Love Triangle Row

Preliminary investigations suggest that the killing was driven by personal and romantic disputes.

A 19-year-old woman was shot dead in broad daylight in Mumbai’s Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi on Tuesday afternoon, in what police say appears to be a case linked to a love triangle.

The victim, identified as Shifa Shaikh, was shot at close range in the cheek and neck. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead before admission.

The incident took place in the Furqania Masjid area of Shivaji Nagar after Shifa was called to meet another woman. The two reportedly argued, following which the woman fired the shots.

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder: a 25-year-old woman, believed to be the main accused, and her 23-year-old male partner.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the killing was driven by personal and romantic disputes. Shifa was reportedly in a relationship with the male suspect, who was also involved with the female suspect.

Zonal DCP Sameer Shaikh confirmed that the make accused was also involved in the murder planning. “The woman allegedly conspired with her male companion to carry out the shooting," he said.

A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered, and the Shivaji Nagar police have launched a full investigation.

“During the probe, we found that Shaikh was friends with another man from the area. A woman from the area who is being questioned in the case was also close friends with Shaikh due to which there was some friction between the two women," the officer said.
