NEW DELHI: BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, alleging “criminal neglect” after reports surfaced of schoolchildren in Hooghly district being forced to sit with umbrellas in classrooms due to a leaking roof.In a post on social media platform X, Malviya shared that as many as 68 students, all between the ages of 5 and 10, were enduring the rain inside a school building with a damaged roof. “What a shame! This is the tragic reality of Mamata Banerjee’s ‘education model’ in West Bengal,” he wrote.Calling out the state’s flagship ‘Banglar Shiksha’ initiative, Malviya questioned the spending on infrastructure. “Where are the thousands of crores claimed to be spent on school infrastructure? Where is the much-hyped Banglar Shiksha?” he asked.
Malviya said that while the government was “busy promoting appeasement and photo-ops”, children in Bengal were suffering without dignity or basic facilities. “This is not governance. This is criminal neglect,” he wrote.
