The names of several Indians, including Deepak Chopra and Mira Nair, appeared in the latest release of the Epstein Files. Chopra, a wellness guru, had reportedly met sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein several times, even after the latter was convicted in 2008.

Reacting to the allegations, Chopra has said that he is “saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case", and he was never a part of this “criminal exploitative conduct."

Taking to X, he said, “I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms. I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity."

“Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time. My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors," added Chopra.

Other Indians Whose Names Surfaced

Besides Deepak Chopra, the names of several other Indians, including filmmakers Mira Nair, Anurag Kashyap, and Nandita Das, and businessman Anil Ambani, were also mentioned in the Epstein files.

About Epstein Files

The Epstein files is a general name people use for thousands of pages of legal and investigation records connected to financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of sexually abusing and trafficking underage girls.

It is not one secret document or a single list but a collection of material released over time by courts and investigators from different cases linked to Epstein and his associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell and lawsuits filed by victims.

What Is Inside These Records?

The papers come from court proceedings, police inquiries, and sworn statements. They include witness accounts given under oath, private jet flight logs, contact books and phone records, emails and written communication, investigation reports, names mentioned during questioning, and details about Epstein’s homes and activities.
