Electric vehicles, despite existing in the real time, feel like a thing of the future. While it may be difficult to tell an EV apart from an average stylised car, there are some with unique features and bizarre designs that make you look at them and think ‘maybe they were designed to welcome aliens,’ if they ever decide to visit earth.
Here are some of the most offbeat EVs you can find, somewhere in the world.
1. Toyota Pod
This cute little 3-door hatchback looks like something straight out of the ‘Robots’ film. Introduced in 2001, the Pod has an inbuilt AI capable of developing relations, holding conversations and even growing attached to its owner and their family. Ever wondered what it would have felt to have a pet for a car?
2. Nissan Hyper Punk
Who doesn’t like a Transformer-like car that looks like it might just stand up on two feet any moment.
Well, that won’t be happening. But yeah, it sure looks cool to look at a car and immediately feel like a superhero. Hyper Punk is said to have AI and biosensors that can play/select the right kind of music based on the driver’s mood and can also adjust lighting. Another cool feature? The car can take pictures and display them in a manga-like pattern.
3. Citroen Oli
If Lego ever decided to design a car, it would probably look like the Citroën Oli.
With its boxy frame, upright windscreen and a rear that feels more like a futuristic pickup than an EV, the Oli is all about function hidden under funky form. Built to be lightweight and practical, this concept EV is a minimalist SUV that’s equally at home in a sci-fi movie set or at a hipster café parking lot.

4. Fiat Panda Camper
Forget the cuddly city Panda you once knew. The Fiat Panda Camper is here to conquer both mountains and music festivals.
With its raised suspension, chunky roof rack and rover-like stance, it feels more interplanetary explorer than family hatchback. Built with sustainability in mind, this concept vehoicle blends recycled plastics and bamboo with rugged functionality. It’s Fiat’s way of saying the Panda isn’t just growing up, it’s growing adventurous.
5. Dacia Manifesto
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a dune buggy crash‑landed on the moon, Dacia Manifesto is pretty close to the answer.
More concept‑lab than production car, it throws away the basics — like doors, windows, or even a windscreen — and replaces them with sheer outdoor bravado. It’s fitted with 850mm airless tires, waterproof interiors, and even seat covers that double up as sleeping bags. No, you can’t buy it (yet!), but as a glimpse of how Dacia imagines adventure, the Manifesto is both ridiculous and ridiculously cool.
Tesla Cybertruck
Ofcourse, a list about the most bizarre EVs from the around would be incomplete without a car that was made to be a meme material. Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most recognizable and unique EVs in the history unique cars. Here’s a fun-fact about the car, the Tesla Cybertruck can also be run on shallow waters and ponds, using its wade mode that raises the vehicle’s height for approximately 30 minutes.
