Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a sweeping overnight crackdown, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar rural police arrested 77 offenders and seized property worth Rs 2.3 crore under ‘Operation All Out’, targeting illegal activities across the district.The operation, carried out from 6pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, was led by sub-divisional police officers and station house officers under the supervision of additional SP Prashant Swami.Superintendent of police Prakash Jadhav said the drive reflects a firm enforcement stance. “No form of illegal activity will be tolerated in the district. We will continue taking strict legal action against anti-social elements through sustained enforcement drives,” he said.The biggest action was against illegal sand mining and transportation, with eight cases registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Minor Minerals Act. Police seized 11 vehicles worth Rs 1.98 crore and initiated steps to suspend their registration. Proposals had earlier been sent to the RTO seeking cancellation of permits of 60 vehicles and suspension of licences of 12 drivers.Action against illicit liquor also intensified. Nine brewers were arrested in nine cases, with seizure and destruction of 1,110 litres of liquor, chemicals and equipment worth Rs 90,750.
In a parallel crackdown, 31 cases were registered against unauthorised vendors, with 685 bottles worth Rs 74,965 seized.The police also targeted gambling, booking 20 people in eight cases and seizing cash and 10 motorcycles worth Rs 5.38 lakh. Two Arms Act cases led to recovery of two country-made pistols, four live cartridges and a sword valued at Rs 1.23 lakh.In the illegal gutka trade, six cases were registered, with contraband and a vehicle worth Rs 12.3 lakh seized.Crackdown on cattle smuggling and illegal slaughter led to two cases and arrest of three accused. Police seized 120 kg of beef valued at Rs 12.84 lakh and rescued 24 cattle, later shifted to a gaushala.Traffic violations were also targeted, with two drunken driving cases registered and fines of Rs 12,000 collected from 13 vehicles.Overall, the district police registered 73 cases during the coordinated operation, signalling an intensified push against organised and routine illegal activities.
