Budget Session Of Parliament 2026 Live Updates: As Parliament prepares to assemble for the Budget Session on January 28, the government is signalling a tightly focused agenda anchored around President Droupadi Murmu’s address, the Economic Survey and the presentation of the Union Budget on February 1. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has made it clear that issues already debated in earlier sessions, including the VB-G RAM G Act and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, will not be reopened, stressing that “we cannot reverse the gear”.

The government has urged parties to raise concerns during the Motion of Thanks and the Budget debate, underlining cooperation and orderly proceedings as priorities for the session’s first phase, which runs till February 13.

The opposition, however, is pushing back, arguing that Parliament cannot function as a one-way street. Several parties have demanded structured discussions on electoral reforms, employment guarantees, foreign policy challenges and economic pressures, warning that their voices must be heard if the House is to run smoothly during a crucial budgetary sitting.
