‘Please Let Me Go, My Children Are Waiting’: What Delhi Gangrape Survivor Told Her Attackers

The 30-year-old woman was gangraped by two men inside a private bus in the national capital on Monday.

Narrating her ordeal, the 30-year-old Delhi gangrape survivor said that she pleaded with the accused to let her go and ensured that she would not take any action against them.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the woman said, “I told them I won’t take any action against you. Please let me go. I have three children waiting for me at home."

The woman, who is a resident of Pitampura, said that she was visiting her brother’s house in Sultanpuri on the day of the incident.

A woman was allegedly gangrape by two men inside a private bus in the national capital on Monday. The Delhi police registered a case on the basis of the woman’s complaint and later arrested both accused in the case.

According to media reports, the accused were identified as Umesh Kumar and Ramendra Kumar. Both were in their late 30s and originally hailed from Uttar Pradesh. The police arrested the two accused, and they have been sent to judicial custody.

The Delhi Police have also seized the bus used in the crime. The survivor is a daily wage labourer at a factory.

What Gangrape Survivor Said To Attackers

The woman, who lives in Pitampura, said that she had gone to her brother’s house in Sultanpur to help him shift houses on the day of the incident.

When she was on her way back, the woman took an e-rickshaw to Saraswati Vihar on the Outer Ring Road.

“I was standing at the bus stop when this private bus stopped. I asked a man standing inside about what time it was. He asked me to come inside the bus and speak to him. So, I boarded the bus," said the woman.

As soon as the woman boarded the bus, the driver started it. There were three people on the bus, including herself.

The man who had asked the woman to board the bus then pushed her towards the backside of the vehicle and raped her in the moving bus.

“When they reached near Nangloi Railway Station, they parked the bus, and then the driver also raped me," the woman said.

The survivor pleaded with the men to let her go and said that her children were waiting for her.

“I told them what’s done is done, and I will not take any action against them. That’s why they let me go. I then called the police," the woman said.

“I told them I won’t take any action against you. Please let me go. I have three children waiting for me at home," the survivor recounted, while speaking to Hindustan Times.

Till then, driver Ramendra had left; however, Umesh was still present at the spot.

When the police reached the spot, they took Umesh into custody and sent the injured survivor for medical examination at a government hospital in Pitampura.

The woman said that the doctors told her to get admitted to the hospital. “But I told them that I cannot because my husband is unwell and my daughters are waiting for me," the woman said.

The woman lives in Pitampura with her husband and has three daughters aged 4, 6 and 9.
