PM Modi said BJP will fulfill the dreams that the Assam Movement martyrs had envisioned for the all-round development of the state.

PM Narendra Modi paid tributes to former Home Minister and freedom fighter C Rajagopalachari on his birth anniversary. He also remembered those who fought in the Assam Movement on Martyrs’ Day.

“Today, on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, I have remembered the bravery of all those who participated in the Assam Movement. This movement will always hold an important place in our history. I would like to reiterate once again that, along with strengthening Assam’s culture, we are committed to fulfilling the dreams that the agitators had envisioned for the all-round development of the state," read PM Modi’s tweet.

“Freedom fighter, thinker, intellectual, statesman…these are some descriptions that come to the mind when one recalls Shri C. Rajagopalachari. Tributes to him on his birth anniversary. He remains one of the sharpest minds of the 20th century, who believed in creating value and upholding human dignity. Our nation remembers his enduring contributions with gratitude. On Rajaji’s birth anniversary, sharing some interesting material from the archives, which includes a picture of a young Rajaji, the notification on his appointment as a Cabinet Minister, a picture with volunteers from the 1920s and a Young India edition from 1922 edited by Rajaji because Gandhi Ji was in jail," read PM Modi’s another tweet.

C Rajagopalachari was former Minister of Home Affairs succeeding Sardar Patel after his death.
