PO cashier booked for abetment to suicide

Prayagraj: Police on Wednesday launched fresh probe into the case of suicide by postmaster J P Srivastava (55). He was posted at Subedarganj sub-post office. His body was found hanging at his house in Peepalgav area under the limits of Airport police station on Tuesday.

In a suicide note, Srivastava had accused cashier of the head post office of embezzlement to the tune of Rs 60 lakh.DCP (City) Maneesh Shandilya said FIR was registered against the cashier for abetment to suicide. “The deceased had in his suicide note accused cashier Surendra Kumar of embezzlement and police are collecting all evidences in connection with the suicide case,” said the DCP.
