The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will auction 98 properties belonging to tax defaulters in the Jayanagar zone of the Bengaluru South Corporation

The corporation is due to collect ₹1,55,86,841 in arrears from these properties, and the GBA has stated that the tax has not been paid despite giving ample opportunities to the defaulters.

Under the GBA Act 2025, all properties within the corporation are required to pay property tax every financial year. The procedure for recovering property tax in cases of non-payment of property tax has been notified under the ‘Property Tax Assessment, Recovery and Maintenance Rules 2024’, it stated.

According to these rules, show cause notices and property tax demand letters have been issued to the property tax defaulters, and the owners of the cases that remain unpaid even after being given sufficient time have been periodically informed through messages to pay the property tax of their properties.

On February 21, the recovery of the arrears will be made through auction from the properties identified as property tax defaulters headed by the Zonal Joint Commissioner (Jayanagar Zone) at the Corporation Commercial Offices Building, 2nd Block, Jayanagar, and the information about such properties has been published in the notice board.

“If the property tax on the listed property is paid in full before the auction process, it will be withdrawn from the auction,” it added.
