A 25-year-old woman gave birth to quadruplets — three girls and a boy — at a government hospital in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar, doctors said on Thursday. The babies were delivered on Wednesday evening, and doctors said all four premature newborns were stable, though three remained in a serious condition.
The mother, identified as Jyoti, is stable and recovering well, doctors said. The babies were born with low birth weight and have been admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit for close monitoring and treatment.
News of the birth spread quickly across Jhalawar, with relatives and well-wishers reaching the hospital to congratulate Jyoti and her husband, Arun Kashyap.
Arun said it was ‘god’s will’. He said, "I was expecting only one daughter, but god has blessed me with three daughters and a son. Whatever he has given us is a matter of happiness". The couple already have a five-year-old son.
Paediatrician Dr Rajendra Gupta described the delivery as very rare and said it was the first quadruplet birth he had witnessed at the Jhalawar Government Women’s Hospital. Doctors at the Government Women’s Hospital attached to SRG Hospital and Jhalawar Medical College said examinations carried out on Thursday morning found both the babies and the mother to be stable.
Dr Vishal Nagar said one of the four babies had shown slight improvement, while the condition of the other three remained serious in the NICU. Doctors said the coming days would be crucial as the premature, low-birth-weight infants continue to receive intensive neonatal care under constant observation.
