Although being one of the biggest stars in the country, Rajinikanth has never shied away from speaking about his spirituality. The "Coolie" star has often been seen visiting spiritual places, as he believes spirituality stands above “name, fame, and money.

” Here’s a look at the superstar’s spiritual journeys.

Rajinikanth is visiting the Himalayas.

Rajinikanth often visits the Himalayas for spiritual retreats when time permits, usually once a year. His trips usually involve meditation, visiting sacred caves, ashrams, and temples. Last year, in 2025, the superstar was seen living a simple life away from all the spotlight as the actor was seen by the roadside, eating a humble meal served on a disposable plate made of dried leaves placed on a stone surface.

In addition to it, he was also seen at the Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh.

During his trip, he also visited Badrinath Dham on Monday to offer prayers to Lord Badri Vishal. These retreats help him recharge, seek clarity, and connect with his practices. He has made similar trips for decades.

Rajinikanth speaks about spirituality

Once earlier in 2017, Rajinikanth shared about his spiritual journey during an event. As per The Hindu report, he said, “More than an actor, I am proud to be known as a spiritually inclined person.”

The ‘Jailer’ star further spoke about how he is inclined towards spirituality. “I value spirituality more than name, fame, and money. I am drawn towards the power of spirituality and derive a lot of energy from it,” he added.Rajinikanth regularly visits temples across India for blessings, especially before major film releases, personal milestones, or festivals. He visits Tirupati Balaji Temple with his family.

He is an ardent devotee and visits for prayers at the Raghavendra Swamy Temple.

For the unversed, Rajinikanth's spiritual journey began in his childhood and youth. During a very difficult time in his young days, Rajinikanth once thought about ending his life, as the actor recalled during a musical event in Singapore in 1992, according to Cinema Express.But something unexpected changed his mind. He saw a painting of a holy saint sitting with people around him and doing puja. The picture stayed in his heart even after he left that place. That same night, Rajinikanth saw the same saint in his dream. The old saint, with a long white beard, was sitting near a river and calling him. Rajinikanth later said that in the dream, he did not swim across the river; he simply ran on the water to reach him.The next day, when he asked about the saint, he learned that it was Sri Raghavendra. Rajinikanth believed that moment changed his life and started his deep spiritual journey.
