Congress leader Randeep Surjewala dismissed talks of a leadership change in Karnataka, saying BJP is spreading this to derail the government's welfare guarantees. He asserted that the government has enough funds for development.

Amid buzz over possible leadership change in Karnataka, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala said there is no such exercise underway.
This comes amid statements from various MLAs pushing for DK Shivakumar to be the Chief Minister.
He clarified that if any MLA has an issue or even a non-issue, it should be raised within the party and the government.
Surjewala added that both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar have confirmed that the state has more than enough funds for development.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Surjewala said the opposition party is pushing this narrative because it wants the Congress government’s guarantees to collapse. “From R Ashok to Vijayendra, all of them have said they want our guarantees to be stopped,” he said, challenging the BJP to openly admit that it does not want people to benefit.
Drawing a comparison, he said, “There’s BJP’s Adani model of governance and our welfare-based model of governance.” He also emphasised that the government will work for everyone, regardless of whether they voted for Congress or not.
Surjewala reiterated that the focus of the Congress government remains on fulfilling the guarantees promised to the people.
