After the surfacing of a video showing a man clinging precariously to the bonnet of a moving car in Mysuru, the City Police have arrested RTI activist Gangaraju, who was reportedly driving the car, on charges of attempt to murder.
The complainant, Dhananjaya, who alleged that Gangaraju owed him money, confronted him near the Sub-Registrar’s office in Ramakrishnanagar in the city on Wednesday.
As Gangaraju refused to discuss the financial transaction with him and went away to his car, Dhananjaya reportedly stood in front of the car and blocked the vehicle. However, Gangaraju started the car and pressed ahead, leading him to fall on the bonnet and hold on precariously to the wiper of the car when it started moving.
A video shared on social media showed Dhananjaya hanging on the bonnet of the moving car. The car was finally stopped near the Kuvempunagar Police Station.
The police, after registering a complaint under Section 109 of BNS, arrested Gangaraju and produced him before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
