The South Central Railway (SCR) was on Wednesday forced to divert about 200 trains and cancel another 50 trains as special teams await the heavy rains to abate to take up repair works to restore railway tracks breached between Bhiknur and Tadmadla in the Medchal–Nizamabad section and in Akanapet–Medak.
Water continues to flow over the tracks in the above two sections while two monsoon special trains – one from Purna has reached the Tadmadla–Bhiknur - and another from Kazipet has reached the affected Nizamabad section carrying sand bags, boulders, girders and sleepers for taking up restoration works.
The trains are being diverted through Vikarabad, Parli Vaijnath and Purna - avoiding the Kamareddy-Nizamabad line, said an official spokesperson on Thursday.
