'Shining Example Of Harmony': PM Modi Greets Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram On Statehood Day

PM Modi extended Statehood Day greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, praising their cultural heritage, natural beauty and contribution to national progress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on the occasion of their Statehood Day, lauding the cultural richness, natural heritage and contribution of both northeastern states to the nation’s progress.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister conveyed warm wishes to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and highlighted the state’s unique identity shaped by its geography and traditions.

“Warm wishes to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of their Statehood Day. Blessed with majestic landscapes and an extraordinary cultural diversity, Arunachal Pradesh stands as a shining example of harmony between tradition and nature," PM Modi wrote.

“Its spirited and industrious citizens play a vital role in strengthening the nation’s progress. At the same time, the state’s diverse tribal ethos adds immense richness to our nation. May the state continue to scale new heights of development in the times to come," PM Modi mentioned.

Often referred to as the “Land of the Rising Sun," Arunachal Pradesh shares borders with Bhutan, China and Myanmar, giving it significant geographical and strategic importance.

The state’s journey from the North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) to becoming a Union Territory in 1972, and eventually attaining full statehood on February 20, 1987, marks an important chapter in India’s federal and administrative history.

In a separate post on X, the Prime Minister also greeted the people of Mizoram, appreciating the state’s strong community values and vibrant cultural traditions.

“Greetings to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day. Mizoram is widely known for its striking natural beauty and enduring cultural traditions. Its strong community spirit and gracious people embody values of kindness and compassion," the Prime Minister wrote.

“The rich Mizo heritage, expressed through tradition, music and other aspects of everyday life, is very inspiring. May Mizoram advance on the path of growth and achieve new milestones in the years ahead," he said.

Mizoram, which became the 23rd state of India on February 20, 1987, celebrates Statehood Day each year to commemorate its transition from a Union Territory to a full-fledged state, marking a significant step toward greater federal autonomy.

Arunachal Pradesh was also granted statehood on the same day in 1987, and both states observe the occasion annually with celebrations highlighting their history, culture and development journey.
