Sigma Advanced Systems acquires Delhi-based AS Strategic

HYDERABAD: Sigma Advanced Systems acquired Delhi-based AS Strategic in a deal estimated at Rs 30 crore, as part of efforts to strengthen its push to build a globally embedded aerospace and defence platform and move up the value chain from component manufacturing to systems integration.Hyderabad-headquartered Sigma said the acquisition expanded its direct participation in European defence programmes and added an export-ready portfolio aligned with India’s indigenisation and defence export priorities.AS Strategic, which focuses on defence and space and has long-standing links in Europe, operates through joint ventures and exclusive service partnerships with major European and global defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

It has an order book of over Rs 315 crore for 2026 that is largely tied to ongoing European defence programmes. The deal will give Sigma access to established joint ventures and service-based partnerships with major European defence companies such as AbraWorks, Escribano, and Arquimea, and builds on the recent acquisition of UK-based Nasmyth.Sigma pointed out that while Nasmyth added precision manufacturing and Tier-1 supply chain integration, AS Strategic added programme access and customer proximity within European defence ecosystems.

“Together, Nasmyth and AS Strategic create a vertically integrated platform, combining Western OEM proximity with India-based engineering and manufacturing execution, positioning Sigma as a globally embedded aerospace and defence company rather than a standalone sub-system supplier,” Sigma said.

Sigma said it planned to shift AS Strategic’s historically outsourced manufacturing towards in-house production and engineering at its Indian facilities, subject to consultation and approvals from OEM partners, with an eye on improving margins and strengthening control over quality, delivery, and lifecycle support. “AS Strategic is not a capacity add for us. It is a capability and credibility add,” said Sunil Kalidindi, CEO, Sigma Advanced Systems.
