Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra on Wednesday said that the inquiry by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the spurious liquor case exposed a major conspiracy aimed at creating unrest and tarnishing the image of the NDA government.
Addressing the media at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri, Mr. Ravindra said the SIT chargesheet named YSRCP leader and former Minister Jogi Ramesh as the prime accused in the scandal.
As per the investigation, adulterated liquor had allegedly been manufactured at Mulakalacheruvu and Ibrahimpatnam before being distributed across the State, the Minister said.
Mr. Ravindra alleged that Mr. Jogi Ramesh, along with his brother Jaganmohan and associate Addepalli Janardhan, had endangered public health for political and financial gains.
The Minister accused the YSRCP of indulging in “destructive politics” and cited the alleged irregularities in liquor policy during its term despite promising total prohibition.
Mr. Ravindra said the NDA government introduced a transparent tracking system with QR code on liquor bottles to ensure authenticity and consumer safety. He urged people to not believe the false propaganda allegedly being spread by the YSRCP.
