New Delhi: Snapchat has officially unveiled its latest safety option, called Arrival Notifications, by expanding on its earlier Home Safe feature, which some users may know. This latest update enables users to automatically notify friends or family when they reach destinations other than home, such as class, a meeting, or a travel stop. Snapchat has also added that this feature is especially designed to make location sharing more flexible and reduce the need to send messages manually. Snapchat first rolled out its Home Safe feature to let users alert someone when they arrive home safely.
Snapchat is now extending the idea to cover more everyday situations. Snapchat has also stated that users can now set alerts for specific places and choose whether they want them to trigger once or repeat regularly. Snapchat said that the feature can be very useful for simple, routine moments. The aim is to make these updates happen automatically, without the users having to remember to send a message each time.
Snapchat has also said that it has focused on the privacy controls, which remain central to how Arrival Notifications work. Snapchat has mentioned that alerts can only be sent to people the users have chosen to share their location with. The location sharing on Snap Map is switched off by default, and the user’s location is only visible if they choose to turn it on. One-time alerts automatically expire after they are sent or after 24 hours if the destination is not reached.
