US President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that tensions involving Iran could affect whether he attends the upcoming wedding of his son, saying global issues were taking priority over personal plans.

Responding to a reporter’s question about attending his son’s wedding over the weekend, Trump said: “He’d like me to go. I’m gonna try and make it… I said, ‘This is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things.’"

The remarks came during an interaction in the Oval Office, where Trump was taking questions from reporters amid ongoing uncertainty over US policy toward Iran.

Trump’s comments arrive as speculation continues over possible US military action against Tehran. In recent days, the president has said he paused a planned strike on Iran following appeals from Gulf leaders, while also warning that military action remains possible if negotiations fail.

He previously indicated that a decision on renewed strikes could come within “two or three days… maybe early next week," while insisting any agreement with Iran must ensure Tehran does not obtain nuclear weapons.

The latest remarks suggest the Iran issue remains a central focus for the White House, with Trump implying the situation is serious enough to interfere with family events potentially.

The president did not specify which son’s wedding he was referring to or whether he had made a final decision about attending.

Trump has five children — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Barron Trump — though no official announcement of an imminent family wedding has been made.

His comments quickly gained attention online, with social media users highlighting the unusual juxtaposition of discussions about geopolitical tensions and family commitments.
