Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Iran has signalled a major shift in its maritime posture, with its naval forces declaring that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz has changed permanently and will not return to previous norms—particularly for rival countries like the United States and Israel.

According to Iranian state broadcaster Press TV, the naval command emphasised that recent developments in the region have reshaped the balance of power. It asserted that external powers, especially Washington, can no longer exercise unchecked influence in waters close to Tehran. Follow for live updates

“The Strait of Hormuz will never return to its former state, especially for America and Israel (sic)," the statement read.

Iran Plans ‘New Gulf Order’

The statement, attributed to the navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was shared via X, highlighting preparations for what officials described as a new regional order. The plan focuses on building a locally driven security framework in the Persian Gulf, based on the principle that coastal nations should manage their own security without the involvement of foreign forces.

“The Navy of the IRGC is in the process of completing the operational preparations for the #Announced_Plan of Iran’s officials for the new order in the Persian Gulf (sic)," the tweet further read.

As part of these efforts, Iran is reportedly increasing naval deployments, upgrading surveillance systems, and strengthening rapid-response capabilities to protect its waters and maintain energy flows through the strait.

Trump’s Fresh Hormuz Ultimatum To Iran

The remarks come against the backdrop of renewed warnings from US President Donald Trump, who has threatened to unleash “hell" if Iran continues to restrict access through the strategic chokepoint.

Iranian authorities have indicated that while the strait remains open, access may be restricted for vessels linked to the US, Israel and their allies.

At the same time, diplomatic efforts appear to be underway. Reports suggest that Washington and Tehran, along with regional intermediaries, are exploring the possibility of a 45-day ceasefire that could potentially pave the way for a longer-term resolution to the conflict.
