Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday chaired a review meeting on the functioning of the Ungaludan Stalin (Stalin with you) initiative, which aims to directly address public grievances. During the meeting at the Secretariat, he inquired officials about the petitions received department-wise under the initiative, the action taken on these, and about the ones still pending, an official release said.

Mr. Stalin instructed Department Secretaries to monitor the progress on the petitions and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner. He was informed that so far, 14,54,517 petitions were received across 15 government departments and 46 services. Out of these, resolutions were found for 7,23,482, the release said. Out of the petitions for which resolutions were found, 5,97,534 were accepted by the petitioners, which is 83% of the resolved petitions.

Mr. Stalin stressed the need to find resolutions for all eligible petitions and that special attention be given to those concerning key departments such as Revenue, Cooperative, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Energy, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj. He also insisted on quicker action and resolution for petitions relating to property tax and drinking water, which come under the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.

In the Agriculture Department, the Chief Minister advised the officials to promptly resolve petitions relating to agricultural inputs, machinery, and other relevant issues faced by farmers. He also instructed immediate action on petitions involving address changes in ration cards and requests relating to pattas.

Calling for compassionate and swift action on requests from persons with disabilities and those received for the Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thittam, Mr. Stalin said public feedback received during the camps should be taken into consideration. Priority Should also be given to petitions related to street lights and road connectivity, Mr. Stalin said.

“The Ungaludan Stalin scheme must ensure that all petitions are acted upon promptly without any exclusions. To ensure this, the Chief Secretary should constantly hold review meetings with Departmental Secretaries and Collectors,” he said. Mr. Stalin added that awareness on the initiative should be created through door-to-door campaigns.

Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Additional Chief Secretary and Special officer of Mudalvarin Mugavari Department, Finance Secretary T. Udhayachandran, and other senior officials were present.
