The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership has initiated the process of gathering opinions from leaders and cadres regarding the appointment of TDP in-charge for Thamballapalle constituency in Annamayya district.
Annamayya district in-charge Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Monday gathered the opinions of the party rank and file at a programme organised in Tirupati. The TDP lost the Thamballapalle Assembly seat to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the 2019 and 2024 elections, and the ruling party is on the process of strengthening the party in the run up to the upcoming local body elections.
The Ministers held individual discussions with key TDP leaders of Thamballapalle constituency to seek their views. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that they were gathering opinions from party leaders in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and party national working president Nara Lokesh.
“There is a need to appoint a party in-charge for the constituency, especially in view of the upcoming local body elections,” he said. Although discussions regarding the appointment of Thamballapalle in-charge have taken place two or three times in the past, the matter has not yet reached a conclusion, Mr. Janardhan Reddy added.
“The party has a clear report on who is obstructing the appointment process and who is engaging in shows of strength,” he said, without naming any leader. Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that display of strength do not serve any purpose, and that the decision of the party high command will be final and binding.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy said the party high command will make a final decision based on the views of the majority of leaders and cadres. He stressed that it was the responsibility of the leaders and cadre to ensure the victory of alliance candidates in the local body elections.
“We will speak individually with key party leaders to gather their opinions and convey the local leaders’ views to the party high command,” he said.
