As part of the ongoing Thiruvananthapuram–Kanniyakumari track doubling project, the road overbridge (ROB) number 21 between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Thiruvananthapuram South (Nemom) stations will be closed to road traffic from July 6 for construction works, said the Railways in a statement here on Thursday.

To facilitate the work, road traffic on Pappanamcode–Malayinkeezhu Road will be diverted via Nemom (Studio Road)–Malayinkeezhu route. As part of the traffic arrangements, vehicles travelling from Pappanamcode towards Malayinkeezhu (including KSRTC buses) should turn left at Vellayani Junction and proceed via Studio Road and turn right at Plankalamukku Junction to reach Malayinkeezhu.

Similarly, vehicles travelling from Malayinkeezhu towards Pappanamcode should turn left at Plankalamukku Junction and proceed via Studio Road and continue through Vellayani Junction to reach Pappanamcode. Small vehicles from the Malayinkeezhu side can enter the city by using Thrikkannapuram–Thirumala Road.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise congestion during peak morning and evening hours, traffic sectoral parties will be deployed at Vellayani Junction. Road users are requested to cooperate with the traffic diversion arrangements on the route and plan their travel accordingly, said the Railways.
